The map above is a fair summary Memorial Day Weekend for the Pietruch's. It was busy.
Justin picked me up right from work. This is one of the many benefits of only working 35 hours a week- I'm done at 3:30 every day! We went right to Utica to see Justin's family. It was a nice evening. On Friday afternoon we packed up once again to visit my family north of Syracuse. We spent a couple nights hanging out with the pups, playing Farkle with my parents and enjoying meals with Jared and Becky.
On Sunday, Justin and I loaded up the car [again], and headed toward Saranac Lake! I had only told Justin where we were going moments before the engine started. We were off to celebrate his birthday in a special way! Since Justin's birthday is at the end of May, which is a great time of the year for traveling, we have gone different places, including Disney World!, Sea World, and the Utica Zoo.
We stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast that was right on a lake. We stayed in the Moose Room and it was completely adorable.

After we arrived, we went to dinner at the Red Fox Restaurant and Lounge. The entire place was decked out in foxes wearing red jackets. Justin had prime rib and I had chicken parmesan. It was delicious!
We enjoyed a delightful night at the B&B. We relaxed, went down to the lake and meandered around the building. It was decorated so amazingly well. I hope that someday I make a great interior designer and people want to walk around my home and just look.
The next morning, we got up early to go down to the lake some more. There was a lot of flooding and the bugs were outrageous. We ended up spending some time talking to Margie, the woman who owns the home. She's very nice and has a friendly dog named Laney. Margie made chocolate chip muffins as a breakfast appetizer and gave Justin one with a candle in it for his birthday! We ate with a young couple from NYC. It was nice to meet some new people and learn about their weekend of travel.
And since it was Memorial Day, we watched the Saranac Lake parade. It was short, but we all got flags. We then went to Lake Placid and walked around. We had lunch in a small restaurant that had 46 sandwiches. That's right. You read me. 46 sandwiches. Plus crepes. And breakfast. And salads. It was outrageous. I got a salad, but Justin assured me that the sandwich was really good.
We then scooted our way back to Syracuse to see my Uncle Fran, who was in town for the weekend. It was a nice detour, since the drive back home was a little more than 5 hours.
This weekend we're heading toward Niagara Falls. The journey continues.

Glad you had a nice weekend - traveling and new adventures are so fun!
